Rhenda Hodnett, a top leader with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) has announced she plans to retire at the end of the year.
This makes her the second high profile figure to move on, just one week after the head of the agency, Secretary Marketa Walters, also announced a similar move.
In a letter to staff, Hodnett wrote about allegations from the department’s mishandling of a number of recent cases.
Hodnett is the assistant secretary of child welfare and is specifically in charge of strategic planning, development and oversight of the state’s child welfare system.
