
Yesterday St. Tammany Fire District #1 responded to the report of a residential structure fire located at 905 Patriot Dr., in Slidell.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in just over five minutes to find an approximate 3,000 square foot two-story home with heavy smoke and flames showing.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and were able to bring the situation under control in just under twenty seven minutes.
The homeowner reported that strange noises woke them up. Once awake, the homeowner noticed smoke in the home. While investigating the cause of the noises and smoke, the homeowner discovered the sunroom on the back of the home was on fire.
The homeowner evacuated his family from the house, and 911 was called.
Firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, while protecting the two adjacent homes, which sustained no damage.
The home contained major fire and water damage, and the Red Cross was called to provide aid to the family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
12 units and 22 firefighters responded. There were no injuries.
