Chief Jimmy Travis says TPSO is investigating two separate incidents in the area of Wardline Road in Hammond, where one subject was carjacked and another attempted carjacking took place within a matter of days.
On June 14, just before 10:30 a.m., an Uber driver traveling through Joe’s Mobile Home Park off Milton Road was approached by a young black male who asked for a ride. When the Uber driver refused the service, the male suspect brandished a handgun and forced the driver to exit his black Toyota Sienna, leaving his cellular device inside. The male suspect drove towards the exit where another young black male entered the van, at which time they left the trailer park.
On June 20, around 4:30 p.m., a female delivery driver was flagged down on Wardline Road near Log Cabin Lane by a young black male who asked to use her phone. When the female said she didn’t have one, the male suspect hit on her window with a handgun. The female was able to drive away and was unharmed. The suspect with the handgun is described as “short and small” in stature, and was accompanied by another young black male.
Citizens are urged to use caution when traveling down Wardline Road and surrounding areas, and to not stop for anyone if flagged down.
