
Hammond Police and Southeastern University Police held a joint press conference yesterday to announce that a second person has been arrested in connection to the shooting at Southeastern Louisiana University during the Hammond High School graduation that injured four people.
The 15 YO juvenile was arrested by the Hammond Police Department on June 7, and charged with: Illegal Carry of a Weapon by a Juvenile, Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Schedule I with Intent to Distribute and Resisting Arrest.
The shooting occurred outside the University Center after the ceremony for Hammond High Magnet School had finished. Hundreds of students and their families were nearby as shots rang out.
Police said two individuals, believed to be associated with rival gangs, got into an argument that led to the shootout.
20 YO Trent Thomas of Hammond was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.
