
Ponchatoula Police say last week officers responded to Walmart after receiving a call that two individuals were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot and pointed a firearm at their children as they walked past.
Officers detained the driver without incident and identified him as 22 YO Kylin Sexton of Hammond.
The passenger, 25 YO Tyshon Coleman of Hammond, was non-compliant but quickly taken into custody.
Located in the passenger seat where Coleman was sitting was a Glock 9mm handgun and suspected marijuana.
A search of the vehicle resulted in locating the following: 1 Glock 9mm handgun with a 40 round extension containing 32 rounds of ammunition, 1 Glock 9mm handgun with a 30 round extension containing 30 rounds of ammunition, 1-50 round drum magazine, 1,580 total pills suspected to be Oxycodone Hydrochloride, and other narcotics suspected to be Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, and Methamphetamine.
Ponchatoula Police also reported another incident involving guns when they responded to the Community Center on Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., after receiving calls of a fight in which guns were displayed.
Officers located two suspects fleeing the area carrying semi-automatic firearms- an AR 15 and an AK 47 rifle.
The suspects were taken into custody and identified as 18 YO Charles Wheeler, and a 16 YO male juvenile. It was determined that Wheeler had taken the firearm from the backseat of a vehicle. Wheeler was charged with Theft of a Firearm and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. The male juvenile was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and transported to the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
No shots were fired during the altercation.
