The Hospice House will be putting their annual “Camp Bearable” on June 3rd -5th at Fontainebleau State Park located in Mandeville, LA.
Camp Bearable is a grief camp for children 7-12 years of age who have lost a loved one.
Hospice House partners with government agencies such as the Police Department, Sheriff Department, Fire Department, and S.W.A.T. to create a bond with what some children may associate with a tragic death. Therapy dogs, music therapy and many other different outlets encourage the kids to express their feelings and realize that they are not alone. Puppet shows, letter writing and journaling, games, art, and team building exercises makes this weekend a fun and powerful experience.
This event is supported by sponsorships and volunteers. The cost is $20 per child. Individuals or businesses can sponsor a child for $200.
