An attempt to close schools two days earlier for the 2022 Christmas holidays failed after a lengthy discussion before the Tangipahoa Parish School Board last night.
Board member Tom Tolar attempted to amend the recommended academic calendar for the 2022-23 school year by moving up the Christmas holidays by two days. He said the request was one he heard from constituents, but his request was voted down.
Debate then returned to the administration’s recommendation for next year’s school calendar.
TPSS surveyed its employees about the upcoming school calendar prior to adoption. Option II was this year’s winning calendar among employees, and Stilley recommended the board approve it for the next school year. The Board voted 8-1 to do so.
