The accident yesterday on 1-12 that backed up traffic for much of the morning commute did involve injuries.
Now multiple media outlets are reporting that three teenagers who were injured in the two-vehicle crash are sisters who attend Archbishop Hannan High School.
The crash happened at about 7:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-12 near the Louisiana 21 exit, closing down lanes of the interstate for more than an hour.
The school posted a message on social media asking for prayers for the Wischkaemper family. 18 YO Alisha, a senior, and sisters, Kristin, a sophomore, and Sienna, an eighth grader, were all involved in the accident.
State Police say the sisters were in a Volkswagen Jetta that hit a Toyota SUV occupied by an adult and two children who were not injured. The Jetta flipped, and one of the passengers, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected.
All three sisters were injured, the youngest critically.
Police say she was flown by helicopter to North Oaks hospital in Hammond, then to University Medical Center in New Orleans.
