On Saturday a Talisheek man was arrested after shooting the family dog during a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 31000 block of Highway 435 in Talisheek.
St. Tammany Sheriff’s deputies responded after being notified by a female, who stated her husband, 62 YO David Mack, fired a weapon, striking the family dog, while the two were arguing.
According to the female, while the couple was arguing, her husband took possession of a firearm; but instead of shooting toward her, he fired the weapon toward a dog kennel inside the residence. That is when the family dog, a German Shepard, was shot.
David Mack then transported the German Shepard to a nearby veterinary clinic to be treated.
Deputies located David Mack at the clinic and took him into custody.
David Mack was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, one count of illegal use of a firearm, and one count of aggravated cruelty to an animal.
According to the veterinarian, the German Shepard is expected to survive.
Mack was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
