
Qualifying for the March primary started Wednesday, and candidates are already in the running for the Hammond City Court judge’s position.
As of Wednesday, the judge’s race includes five individuals who have filed formal announcements of their candidacy with the Tangipahoa Parish Clerk of Court’s office.
Among those who have qualified, Britain Sledge, Republican from Hammond; Jenel Guidry Secrease, Republican from Ponchatoula; John F. Watts, Republican from Hammond; Arden Wells, Independent from Ponchatoula; and Erica D. Williams, Democrat from Hammond. Qualifying continues through Friday, Jan. 28.
The primary election is March 26 with a run-off scheduled on April 30, if necessary.
