
NAMI St. Tammany is hosting a free community event on Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention.
This FREE community event offers the opportunity to increase awareness of available resources, provides an educational opportunity, and opens up the conversation about mental health and suicide prevention among our youth.
NAMI St. Tammany presents a film screening of “My Ascension” on Thursday, January 27 at 5:30pm at Mandeville High School’s Auditorium, located at 1 Skipper Drive, Mandeville, LA 70471.
A panel discussion will immediately follow the screening.
This community event is free and open to the public.
No registration is required.
About the film: A suicide attempt left 16-year-old varsity cheerleader, Emma Benoit, paralyzed, but propelled her on a mission to use her painful experience to help others find hope, and shine more light on the fact that 20 young people die every day by suicide in the in the United States.
My Ascension is a feature length documentary that chronicles Emma’s inspiring journey and quest to walk again, as she works to bring Hope Squad, a school-based suicide prevention program, to Louisiana.
