
On November 27, at 1:00 p.m., the Hammond Police Department responded to a shooting on Clinton Court.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Andre Brown, 37 years old of Hammond, lying in a driveway.
HPD Officers, along with Hammond Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance, began attending to the multiple gunshot wounds that Brown had sustained. Brown was transported to North Oaks Medical Center via Acadian where he succumbed to his injuries.
HPD Detectives spoke with several witnesses. Through their investigation, detectives learned that the suspect, Lonnie Pennington, 28 years old of Hammond, had arrived at the residence in a black Honda Accord and approached Brown. Pennington demanded that Brown, “Give me my money.”
Pennington then shot Brown multiple times.
Detectives secured a warrant for Pennington for the following: one count of Second Degree Homicide, one count of Illegal Carrying and Discharge of a Weapon, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and one count of Obstruction of Justice.
