Tourism and convention business continues to return to the city of New Orleans as the city just finished hosting its largest conference since the start of the pandemic.
According to New Orleans & Co., about 10,000 people attended the American Academy of Ophthalmology Convention from Nov. 11-15.
For business owners, it is the latest sign that visitors are returning to the city as COVID-19 cases decrease and vaccination rates increase.
While travel to the city is increasing, many in the industry are still feeling the impacts of almost two years of depressed tourism numbers.
Last week local leaders testified before the New Orleans City Council and called on continued financial support for culture bearers, musicians and other people in the tourism industry who have been impacted by the pandemic.
