Mandeville Mayor Clay Madden says the City of Mandeville has placed signs at busy intersections to deter panhandling.
The mayor says the signs were commissioned to encourage a safe alternative for charitable donations.
Madden said through a statement that the Mandeville Cares Fund, set up through the Northshore Community Foundation, is an easy way to show your support and to help lift people out of dire circumstances relating to hunger, poverty, and homelessness.
So, the mayor urged Mandeville residents, before rolling down the window for a panhandler, please think about making a donation to this fund.
