
On Monday, Oct. 4, the Louisiana Department of Health confirmed that another juvenile has died during the state’s fourth COVID-19 surge.
This marks the ninth juvenile death from COVID-19 for the state during the fourth surge. The child was between the age of 12 and 17. In total, 18 children younger than 18 have died from COVID in Louisiana, according to LDH.
Yesterday LDH reported 1,725 new #COVID19 cases since Friday, October 1, 2021.
715 individuals were hospitalized with COVID across Louisiana.
The report included cases among all age groups. 25% of cases are among children ages 17 and younger and 17% are among ages 18-29.
The report also included cases from all regions. 17% are from Region 7 (Northwest) and 15% are from Region 1 (Greater New Orleans).
39 new COVID deaths were reported since Friday, including the death of a child between the ages of 12 and 17, bringing the state’s death toll to 14,027.
