Correction: the start time for the Mosquito abatement missions on Friday in Tangipahoa will be at 7:40 pm, not 8:40 pm.
The area has seen a dramatic increase in area mosquito populations in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida.
In order to provide relief from these biting mosquitoes to citizens as well as recovery workers, the entire District will be treated by aircraft this Friday September 10th starting at 7:40 pm.
Three aircraft should be able to accomplish this in one evening.
If they are not able to finish on Friday, the remainder of the District will be sprayed on Saturday evening.
As this is part of a declared emergency, FEMA will be reimbursing the District for the costs of these protective measures.
