Several hundred recovery service-related vehicles are on the roads across Tangipahoa, and Parish President Robby Miller is asking motorists to yield to these vehicles and drive carefully through these work zones.
Miller said we have National Guard, utility crews, debris contractors, and many other recovery-related workers who do not know our parish. They are working around-the-clock to help us and Miller is asking citizens help them work safely while they are in our area.
Miller said there are 1,100 National Guardsmen along with two 1,500 member base camp teams of utility workers housed and actively dispatching out of Tangipahoa. That does not count RSA activity and debris trucks which are also rolling.
Miller said one way to help them is to move over when we see them on the road.
Miller said that may mean planning a little extra drive-time on commutes.
