At a briefing yesterday City of New Orleans spokesperson Beau Tidwell said the mandates put in place by the mayor appear to be working.
He said the City of New Orleans is on the verge of hitting a key milestone when it comes to protecting its population from coronavirus. By the end of this week, four out of every five adults in the city are expected to have had at least one vaccine shot.
Tidwell said complaints about New Orleans businesses violating the new COVID-19 vaccine mandate have started to come in. So far City Hall has received 19 complaints related to the mandate.
He also called the Saints game earlier this week a successful evening. Tidwell said showing proof of vaccination or a negative PCR COVID test didn’t stop many Saints fans from attending Monday night’s preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was the first home game in the Superdome following the announcement of the new mandates.
