This week the St. Tammany Parish Council voted to call a special election for voters to consider allowing a casino complex in St. Tammany Parish.
Parish President Mike Cooper spoke, saying from the beginning, he has expressed his desire for the voters of St. Tammany to decide the future of a gaming and entertainment venue at a specific location on Lake Pontchartrain in Eastern St. Tammany. Cooper added that he appreciated the interest from Peninsula Pacific Entertainment and looks forward to seeing more information provided in the coming months on how the casino could benefit Slidell and all of St. Tammany.
The Council’s Resolution, which was decided 8-6, will allow the people of St. Tammany the ability to decide whether or not they want a casino in St. Tammany Parish.
The Special Election will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021.
