The Northshore Community Foundation is proud to announce that the recipient of the Fourth Annual Dick Knight Award is the Rev. L. Stephen Holzhalb, III, Executive Officer of Christwood Retirement Community for his more than 50 years of nonprofit service to the Northshore.
The award is given annually in honor of the late Richard F. “Dick” Knight, a founding and beloved board member.
Susan Bonnett Bourgeois, CEO of the Foundation says that Father Steve’s work ethic, his kindness, his determination and his faithfulness perfectly represent the spirit in which Dick lived his life.
Father Steve first proposed the idea of a Northshore senior care facility in the early 1980s, and after decades of unrelenting, persistent work and fundraising his vision became a reality as Christwood opened its doors in May of 1996. He has served as Executive Officer of the Christwood Retirement Community for the past 17 years.
Holzhalb received $5,000 as recognition of his vision and service to the nonprofit sector and the Foundation would like to thank Resource Bank, the Gia Maione Prima Foundation and the Fund for Bogalusa for the contributions to making this years’ award possible.
