Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Jimmy Travis says four suspects have been charged with first degree murder in a case on E. Louisiana Avenue where a group of individuals tried to rob a young couple.
He said the case is still under investigation but three adult males and one male juvenile have been charged in the case where a homeowner was forced to defend his family, stabbing one of the assailants to death with a pair of scissors.
Travis explained that detectives working the case say the suspects can be charged with first-degree murder themselves for participating and conspiring in the event that led to a death. Travis said that the sheriff’s office has reason to believe that the crime could be gang-related, an issue he said is on the rise in the parish.
