Strong storms moved across southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi early Saturday, leading to one death.
According to emergency managers, just before 4 a.m., a tree fell on a home near Poplarville, Mississippi and a 2-year-old inside the home was fatally injured. The storms caused several other damage reports, including a large military-type cargo truck blown over on County Farm Road in Pearl River County. The city of Hammond reported five trees down across the city. One of the trees fell on several homes. In Slidell, at least one tree was snapped by high winds.
