
A fatal fire at a house on Ranch Road in Slidell left one man dead.
Neighbors described hearing a series of loud explosions and Slidell Fire Chief Kris Kaufman says the victim’s oxygen bottles exploded after the fire started.
Firefighters arrived on the scene in just under three minutes to find an approximate 1,200 square foot home fully involved. Firefighters extinguished the fire and were able to bring the situation under control in just over twelve minutes. Firefighters conducted a search of the residence and discovered one person deceased inside the residence.
All proper agencies were notified and the cause of the fire is under investigation. This is a joint investigation involving the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, ATF, and St. Tammany Fire Protection District No. 1 Investigators.
