
It was reported by Hammond PD over the weekend three-year old victim of a shooting was in critical condition after an incident at approximately 11:10 am on March 27.
The Hammond Police Department responded to a shooting on North Morrison Boulevard near the intersection of Church and Morrison.
The suspect, 22 YO Traonta Berry of Ponchatoula, turned himself into Hammond police for questioning. After questioning, he was charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of cruelty to a juvenile, and many more charges.
Berry argued with another man about domestic matter that progressed into a physical altercation. The man was driving northbound on North Morrison in his 2008 black Jeep Liberty with his two children in the vehicle. Berry followed in his 2018 gray Dodge Charger and began shooting at the Jeep. A bullet struck the three-year old child who was in the front passenger seat.
