Last week, the City of Slidell hosted a ribbon cutting for the new basketball courts at Ducksworth Park. Slidell Mayor Greg Cromer was joined by members of the Slidell City Council, Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal, city officials and several members of the community to cut the ribbon and officially open the new basketball courts. City leaders even christened the new courts by shooting a few hoops. The Ducksworth Park Basketball Courts Project included the removal of an existing basketball court and the construction of two new basketball courts. The City funded the project through the Community Development Block Grant Program which provides annual grants to develop viable urban communities. The total cost of the project was roughly $140,000.
