Throughout the weekend, public safety officials from numerous federal, state, and local agencies worked to coordinate security protocols and ensure safety for protesters, Capitol grounds, and the surrounding community. Officials with Louisiana State Police and the FBI said the peaceful assemblies and activities throughout the weekend were a testament to the intended purpose of our First Amendment rights, including the right to peacefully protest. Leading up to Inauguration Day on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, a multi-agency collaborative team will remain in a heightened posture to monitor for any emerging threats to the state. No specific and substantiated threat to life or property have been identified at this time to include the State Capitol or other government buildings.
