As the Louisiana Workforce Commission works to implement a new unemployment insurance benefits program, the agency encourages claimants to check their HiRE accounts.
LWC began processing and paying out an additional $300 benefit through the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) program. Claimants receiving benefits from both state and federal programs, who did not exhaust their benefit amount, can complete their weekly certifications for the week ending Jan. 2. If a claimant exhausted benefits before Dec. 26, they must wait for additional information regarding the continuation of benefits through provisions listed in the COVID Relief Bill. The United States Department of Labor has not issued its final guidance for the implementation of every aspect of the COVID Relief Bill.
To ensure each claimant is getting the most accurate and case-specific information, claimants must check their HiRE accounts. UI staff will communicate the need for any documents or information a claimant may need to upload. To minimize fraud, ALL claimants must upload identity verification documents, as directed, to their HiRE accounts. These documents must be clear and up-to-date. If the documents provided are not clear, or if the information on the document provided is different from the information on his/her claim, they will be asked to provide additional information for verification. For example, if the address on their ID is different than the address on their claim, they are asked to upload a piece of mail (e.g., utility bill) that matches the address on their claim.
