A staff member of Governor John Bel Edward tested positive for COVID-19 over the New Year’s holiday. The governor’s office made the announcement yesterday. Two additional staff members who were deemed to have close contact with this person are quarantining, per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and the Louisiana Department of Health, according to the governor’s office. They also say the governor is not affected because the person did not have close contact with the Governor Edwards.
