On the day after the vote allowing them to move forward, Medline said they applauded the City of Hammond and Tangipahoa Parish for its leadership to rezone two parcels adjacent to the Hammond Airport where Medline will construct a new, state-of-the-art distribution center that will create 450 jobs at full capacity. Medline said they have worked closely with Tangipahoa Parish President Robby Miller and the parish’s economic development and workforce development teams, along with Hammond Mayor Pete Panepinto and the city council, to create the best possible project for the community.
Medline said they enhanced the distribution center site plan with updates to include enhancing draining infrastructure onsite to remove water from nearby properties and creating a retention pond capable of withstanding a 500-year flood event, establishing 100 setbacks from the street, 14 foot fencing, 8 foot berms and enhanced landscaping to create a visually appealing, quiet operation, and investing in the community by installing a pedestrian path on the west side of Industrial Park Road, contributing $500,000 of state grant funds to a roundabout on HWY 190 and another $200,000 for city drainage improvement projects.
The $45 million project is expected to break ground in early 2021 and take approximately one year to complete.
