Apparently Hammond city officials will ask the City Council on Tuesday to postpone action on a request to rezone property across the street from the Hammond-Northshore Regional Airport after an advertising technicality.
On Monday Hammond city leaders took measures to guarantee that the signage requirement for the re-zoning request allowed them to start the process again for a parcel of land located at the corner of Vineyard Road and the northeast corner of Industrial Park Road. According to a statement, the signage placed on the property did not meet the minimum signage size requirements.
If the council approves the administration’s recommendation, the measure returns to the Planning and Zoning Board on Nov. 5. If approved, the measure would be forwarded on to the council for introduction at their Nov. 10 meeting and possible consideration on the meeting scheduled two weeks later on Nov. 24.
The property in question is being reviewed for a possible distribution center to be operated by Medline, after their proposed expansion project in St Tammany languished before parish officials before finally being rejected. The Hammond City Council meets Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the council chambers, next door to Hammond City Hall.
