Cantrell Calls For Cuts

In New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell is asking all city departments to take a 20% budget cut next year. She presented a $1.3 billion budget for 2021 which she says will require many city employees to take a furlough day each pay period, due to pandemic related revenue shortfalls. Some city departments will be taking budget cuts up to 40%. The council will have hearings on the budget over the next month.
