On September 17, officers of the Hammond Police Street Crimes and Narcotics Units were patrolling when a call was received stating that a black Nissan Altima was riding on Harrell Street with a male subject pointing a handgun out the window. Officers located the vehicle on Mooney Avenue at West Morris Avenue. When they initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle for traffic violations, the front seat male passenger, Jamie Felder, 26 years old of Hammond, quickly exited the vehicle. At the same time, officers saw a large amount of narcotics and a handgun laying on the passenger side floorboard in plain view. They attempted to place Felder in custody, but he began to physically resist. After a brief struggle, officers were able to place Felder in custody. They then located more narcotics concealed inside Felder’s pants. Overall, officers confiscated one 9mm Springfield Armory handgun, one package containing approximately 50 pieces of crack cocaine, approximately 8 ounces of marijuana and a digital scale. Felder faces numerous charges.
