Deputies from the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office will conduct a sobriety checkpoint over the long Labor Day weekend at an undisclosed location. The checkpoint is part of the ongoing, proactive “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to combat impaired driving. The manpower for this initiative is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission. Sheriff Randy Smith asks citizens to make responsible decisions. He said if you choose to consume alcohol, don’t drive. Make a plan in advance. Have a non-drinking designated driver or call a cab.
