The Louisiana Department of Health says for 11 days in a row, hospitalizations for COVID-19 are down in Louisiana. 1,335 people hospitalized, down 47 from yesterday. But Edwards said hospitals in Louisiana are still feeling a strain from COVID-19 despite a decrease in patients over the last two weeks. The governor says 15 hospitals in the state are currently reporting no available beds in their intensive care units (ICU) which is down from 28 hospitals. 214 people are on ventilators. Since the uninterrupted downward trend began the weekend of August 1, the number of people hospitalized is down more than 200.
Louisiana reported more than 1,100 new coronavirus cases bringing the state’s pandemic total to 133,125. Twenty-six more deaths brought the state’s total to 4,195.
