The Hammond Kiwanis Club has decided to postpone their annual Tour de Tangi bike ride until next spring, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Established in 1991, the annual Tour de’ Tangipahoa event draws a large group of cyclists who tour the pleasant, yet challenging trek through Tangipahoa Parish. Club officials said the 2020 event will be postponed from the 3rd Saturday in September to the 3rd Saturday in March 2021. Organizers said that while the decision was not an easy one to make, they wanted to make the health safety of their participants and their club members a priority. They also note that this event is so popular in the fall that many riders have asked that the club offer a spring ride, as well. The revised Tour de Tangi date is set for March 20, 2021. Prospective riders were notified in advance that there would be three options available to them, should the event be postponed—they can request a refund, ask to have the fee advanced to the 2021 tour, or choose to donate the fee to the club.
