Yesterday Gov. John Bel Edwards said the rising coronavirus numbers will keep Louisiana from advancing to the next phase of reopening. He said he will extend Phase 2 order for an additional two weeks. That would make August 7 the earliest the state could enter Phase 3. With 1,691 new coronavirus cases reported today, state health officials say the percentage of test results coming back positive show the virus is still being transmitted in the community, and has not decreased to safe levels for increased reopening.
