Jean Pelloat has won a second term as the Madisonville Mayor. According to unofficial returns, Pelloat won with 268 votes to opponent “Charlie” Tucker’s 54. Turnout was 47.6 percent in the race.
In Covington, Rick Smith and Steve Stokes are heading to a run-off after Smith came just short of the required 50 percent of the vote in the City Council at Large race. Smith had 1,219 of the 2,460 votes cast. Smith fell less than 20 votes short of winning outright. They are competing to fill the seat left open after Patrick McMath’s successful run for the state Senate.
