On August 3, 2021, a detective from the Hammond Police Department was working an off-duty security detail at Walmart, located at 2799 West Thomas Street, when he was contacted by Walmart’s loss prevention department regarding a theft.
On July 29, 2021, a black male suspect put nine Texas TI-84 Plus calculators in an empty box within the store. On the next day, the suspect returned to the store and purchased the item pictured on the box, stealing the calculators that were hidden within the box.
