
Local hospitals and government officials are scrambling to spread the word as a surge in cases and hospitalizations has everyone’s attention.
Gov. John Bel Edwards will hold a news conference on Louisiana’s fourth coronavirus surge at 3 p.m. today.
Yesterday the Louisiana Department of Health reported 2,843 new #COVID19 cases around the state. There were 913 COVID-19 hospitalizations as of yesterday with 15 additional deaths. The current total death count is now 10,889. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 (25%) and 30 and 39 (18%) accounted for the largest portion of the new cases.
Just 36% of Louisiana’s population is fully vaccinated. Nationally, 56.3% of Americans have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC.
