It was a busy holiday weekend for investigators in New Orleans.
More than a dozen people were shot across the city, adding to an already high violent crime rate. One of the shootings happened at South Broad and Washington. Police say a man was trying to rob someone when the would-be victim, pulled out a gun and shot him. Surveillance video shows people running when the shots were fired. The man who was shot then ran across Broad Street to a convenience store. He walked inside and went behind the counter asking for help. They called 911 and the gas station owner says his place was shut down for 3 hours.
City officials have been reacting to the public’s insistence that something be done about the violent crime in the city. Officials say the changes they have implemented to help will take time.
