Mandeville Mayor Clay Madden announced today that Police Chief Gerald Sticker has informed him of his intentions to retire from the department after 28 years of service in the City of Mandeville.
“The announcement was unexpected. I met with Chief Sticker yesterday, I understand and respect his decision.”
Madden expressed his gratitude for Chief Sticker’s dedication to the city and citizens over the years, citing Sticker’s commitment to the community, the police department, and the entire City organization.
“Chief Sticker has been a tremendous team member and leader to the Police Department. He led the Mandeville Police Department with honor through its darkest day with the death of Captain Vincent Liberto Jr. in 2019. I deeply appreciate Gerald’s friendship and service. I salute him for his career accomplishments and certainly wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Chief Sticker worked his way up through the ranks before becoming Chief of Police in 2016 following the retirement of Chief Rick Richard. His retirement will be effective June 18th.
“I will be mobilizing a team immediately to assist in the recruitment and selection of a new police chief, who like Chief Sticker, will continue forward as a servant leader to the faithful men and women of the Mandeville Police Department. The Mandeville Police Department’s unwavering commitment to protect and to serve the citizens of Mandeville will continue without disruption.”
