
On May 18, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office Financial and Cyber Crimes Unit arrested 44 YO Tonya Lynn Hare of Hammond.
Chief James Travis reports that Hare was arrested for illegally using the debit card of a deceased person. Hare is accused of withdrawing approximately $1,800 from several ATM’s machines, subsequently liquidating the bank account.
During the investigation, detectives observed Hare on security camera footage withdrawing the cash just moments after learning of the deceased person’s passing. The deceased’s bank records also coincided with Hare’s transactions.
After arrest, Hare confessed. She is charged with (1) count each of Exploitation of the Infirm, Identity Theft and Bank Fraud.
Hare is currently being held in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail without bond on a Probation and Parole violation.
