The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an altercation in which an armed assailant was stabbed to death by a homeowner.
TPSO Chief of Operations Jimmy Travis said 27 YO Devin Mitchell of Hammond has been identified as the man who was killed early Wednesday at a residence on East Louisiana Street near the Hammond city limits. Travis said Mitchell was an intruder killed in the victims’ residence. He said the case involves an altercation that started in the driveway of a home on East Louisiana Street when the victims were approached by assailants armed with handguns. The incident escalated and ended in the house when the homeowner stabbed one of the attackers while defending his family and himself.
Detectives were searching for at least one other suspect.
