They have been assigned to the Judiciary B Committee in the Senate and the Administration of Criminal Justice Committee in the House. The bills will have to make it out of those committees and win a floor vote.
St. Tammany voters voted down casino gambling and video poker in 1996 but sentiments may have changed since then.
Pacific Peninsula says it wants to build a 250 million dollar land-based casino and hotel on vacant land near the lake on east side of I-10. The company has promised new jobs and tax revenues for the east end of St Tammany Parish.
