
Retired New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, along with current star linebacker Demario Davis, are partners in a venture that is pitching a redevelopment of the former Six Flags-Jazzland site with an “agricultural innovation hub” at its core.
A city selection committee chose the proposal as one of three that advanced for further consideration to bring commerce back to the 227-acre property that has been dormant and decaying since Hurricane Katrina. Six submissions were reviewed Tuesday, with committee members looking at the experience and financial backing each team had to realize its vision. The selection committee did not set a date for the second round of presentations from the finalists. They will be expected to provide more detail to officials as to how they would bring their plans to life.
There have been multiple attempts in the past to attract developers to the former amusement park, but none have generated much promise beyond the proposal phase.
