New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is expected to update the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic at 4:30 pm today. The announcement comes as the state reported a total of 1,974 hospitalizations on Tuesday. The highest reported number of patients in hospitals was 2,134 on April 13. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, regions 6 (CenLA), 7 (Shreveport), 8 (Monroe) and 9 (Northshore) are all seeing the most COVID hospitalizations since the pandemic began.
