Around 7:15pm last night it was announced that Slidell PD was on the scene of a plane crash at Slidell Municipal Airport. As of last night, Slidell Police reported one person dead, and that a search was underway. A Slidell PD spokesperson said drones and multiple people were looking to see if there are any other signs of life in the area. Officers were expected to remain at the scene at least until this morning. The FAA and St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s will then investigate the crash scene.
Slidell police say there was a family from the New Orleans area who were expecting loved ones to have landed. Police said they could not discuss potential people involved, or even confirm the plane that crashed was the same one loved ones were waiting on.
