A Lacombe man died in a boating accident in St. Tammany last week.
Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents said they recovered the body of 65 YO Darryl J. Batiste on the Big Branch National Wildlife Refuge. His body was turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death. LDWF said agents were notified about an unmanned vessel in the area and immediately began searching for Batiste. Agents said they believe that Batiste was attempting to lift his trolling motor out of the water when the rope broke causing him to fall into the water. Batiste’s body was recovered without a personal flotation device.
