Last week the Hammond Police Juvenile Division, with the assistance of the HPD Street Crimes Unit and the Ponchatoula Police Department, arrested Brandon C. Johnson, 28 years old of Ponchatoula. Johnson was arrested on charges of First Degree Rape in connection to an incident with a juvenile which occurred in June of 2020. Chief Bergeron, Jr. said the Hammond Police Department takes the safety of children seriously, and their wellbeing is their top concern. He said their detectives worked diligently to close the case.
