Tom Meyer, Board Chairman for the St Tammany Chamber of Commerce, wrote in their latest newsletter about their ongoing topical webinars with local leaders about a series of topics. He says too many uncertainties and questions about everything from business closures, sales tax reductions, impacts on health care and government services resulted in the chamber partnering with the Northshore Community Foundation and St. Tammany Corporation to sponsor a series of weekly meetings we call “Corona Conversations.”
Meyer said the virtual turnout has been impressive, and the information provided by the panelists has been not only informative but eye-opening. Many answers have been provided to questions about the impact of the pandemic. He said some are optimistic, while others are realistic and concerning. Four of the conversations are done and the videos are available online. Meyer wrote that information is power and provides all business owners or employees a sense of at least some certainty in the midst of the on-going unknown.
Community Needs is the topic of the next conversation about the impact of COVID-19 on the local economy and how it affects the future of St. Tammany.
